👤I bought the dehydrator from Amazon in June but it was not ready when my fig tree started to produce figs this week. I got everything clean, cut, and put a k on boiling wster on the dehydrator, but it wouldn't work, no noise, no nothing. I contacted Amazon and they refused to help me because the return window had expired and I didn't want my money back. The manufacturer was offered the #. When I buy something from them, I have to deal with the manufacturer, but they have great customer service. I spend a lot of money in Amazon and rarely send anything back unless it doesn't fit or it doesn't work, I wasted my money and now they want me to call the manufacturer, I don't want to waste my time. Thanks for nothing.
👤I'm not sure what's going on with the negative reviews, but I've had this dehydrator for a while and it's still going strong. I've used it to make tons of beef jerky over the years, no issues with the heating element like some others seem to have had. The only things I don't like about it are the trays and lack of a power switch. It's a solid product. It was changed to 2022. I still hate cleaning the trays. If you're not careful, the text on it will wipe away. Don't rub it too hard with your meat machine.
👤Disappointed that this product has a short lifespan. Our dog requires a low fat diet and we make jerky for him. The dehydrator ran out of warranty after the first year. The plastic trays began to break at about 14 months after they became brittle. If you're planning on using it once a month, you should spend a little more and get a better quality one that won't burn out after a year.
👤After three months, I stopped working. The first time I bought this model, it lasted about 2 years, but this time it lasted 3 months. A week of making jerky. Buyer beware! I will have to send the unit back to Nesco at my expense if I try to call them tomorrow. When I told customer service that I didn't use all four trays, they said that was the reason the motor blew. It's up to ME to send them back to see if they can fix it, or if they will replace it. I will not buy another one from Nesco.
👤Second purchase. Second failure. The failed product will not be honored by Nesco. Multiple people with the same issue are seen in the reviews. You buy this and use it a lot, but then it stops working. I bought a new one for the first time. It does a great job for dog treats. I bought the second one at Walmart last spring, but it has only been used a few times and stopped working last night. I was contacted by Nesco who wanted the model numbers, receipts and proof of a thirty day warranty. There was no replacement. If you are looking for a company that cares about their customers and can create a product that works or will stand behind the product that is due to be broken within a year, I would highly recommend you do that.
There is a fruit roll sheet and two original-flavor jerky cure packets. 5 tray food dehydrator dries in hours. The thermostat can be adjusted from 95-to-160 degrees F. The flavors don't mix, no need to rotation trays, and the exterior blocks harmful lights. There is a recipe book, 2 sheets of mesh, and a packet of jerky. There are 5 trays, 2 fruit roll sheets, 2 clean a screens, 3 original flavor jerky spices and 3 cure packets.
👤I have been using this dehydrator for 7 years. I use this dehydrator almost non-stop for everything I need, from fruit to soup, because I spend a lot of time outdoors. I recommend this product to anyone who is thinking of using a dehydrator, because I did a lot of research before buying it. The fan is easy to clean and comes with instructions and tips for food dehydration.
👤I don't know if this listing still gets spotted because the model name has changed over the years. I've had two of these Nesco dehydrators and they are the exact style. They both died. I made at least ten batches of jerky a year, but I didn't abuse them. They both died on me. fool me twice. etc I will never consider a brand again. The trays are filthy.
👤I have been using the Nesco Food Dehydrator for over a year. I use it for a lot of things. Every couple of weeks the dehydrator is used. It is not the quietest thing when running. You can hear the fan, but not as much as the stove exhaust fan. Cleaning the grate in the unit can be a PIA. You can put them in the dishwasher after soaking them in hot soapy water. The Clean Screen mats for the dehydrator are even better. The screens of each section of the unit have soft plastic liners on them. The screens will keep the meat and fruit bits from sticking to the grate, making it easier to clean. They make it easier to remove dehydrated foods. Some foods stick to the plastic grate. You will peel off the mats. You can have more control over what you eat byhydrating your own food. If you look at the dried fruits, you will see sugar is added. When you start dehydrating your own fruits, you will see you don't need the added sugar. The package junk tastes more like sugar than the fruit, so you will soon discover real fruit flavors. You can save a lot of money by making your own jerky. There is a The Nesco FD-75PR Food Dehydrator is a simple unit. It is a single dial control, no fancy digital readout, timer or screen. This makes it easy to use. This could be the reason it lasts. 7 years ago, the dehydrator worked as well as it does today. It is worth every penny.
👤Do I like my food dehydrator? Yes, I do! Commercial dried fruits are expensive, but I like to snack on them. I can make my own dried fruit snacks from fresh fruit from a local farmer's market with this dehydrator. The dehydrator is very easy to use. For dried peaches, I washed and halved the large ones, removed the pits, and used a food processor to slice the halves into small slices, which I dunked into orange juice. I put the heat/fan unit on top of the dehydrator trays, put the slices on the trays, and plugged the appliance in. The total preparation time was about 15 minutes. The peach slices were finished drying and ready to eat. The dehydrator doesn't use a lot of electricity. The trays are easy to clean. The few bits of fruit that are stuck on can be easily removed with a little hot water, dish soap, and a nylon-net dishcloth.
Grey speckled/marbled trays. As your needs grow, you can expand your dehydrator. The thermostat can be adjusted from 95-to-160 degrees F. It's a 600 watt unit. The flavors don't mix, no need to rotation trays, and the exterior blocks harmful lights.
There are 67 kinds of dry food, 1 colorful multilingual instructions, a 7* 304 grid, and an extra plastic grid. You can make delicious and healthy snacks without going out. Even heat distribution is provided by 600 watt of drying power, which is four times faster than other food dehydrators. Adaptable temperature control. The temperature control gives you the flexibility to achieve the best results when drying different foods. It's possible to expand up to 12 trays so you can dry large quantities at once with no tray rotation needed. VITASAVE EXTERIOR: The food's vitamins and minerals are retained during the drying process because of the opaque exterior. There is a sample of Jerky Seasoning & Cure and a care and use guide included. Made in the USA is made in global and domestic components. The powerhead is imported from China. The rest of the product is assembled in the USA.
👤I chose this product over the other ones because it says Made in USA. That is a complete lie. If you flip the lid over, it says Made in China.
👤I used it to make dog treats out of chicken feet, turkey necks, chicken hearts and gizzards. I put it at 160F and it was ready to feed the dogs. It is cheaper to make homemade treats than it is to buy them.
👤I got a dehydrator in June. I called the company when I started to dry my herbs. I asked for help because my herbs were taking so long to dry. I didn't get much satisfaction but I thought the basil took more time. I was working on basil and herbs. It took at least 36 hours. I was harvesting parsley. I want to dehydrate it. It took 24 hours to dry. This product was very disappointing. I wouldn't recommend it. I would return it. I didn't start dehydrating until August. Don't buy this product.
👤We used it a few times to make backpacking food, and kept it there until November. We tried to make some jerky, but it was too hot. We had the same model and it lasted a long time. Maybe the manufacturing quality has gone down.
👤I did a lot of research before buying these. When you have over 3000 reviews and you are still at 4 1/2 stars, you can't deny this. It was the best jerky I have ever had. They are free with the spices we used. There was soy sauce and red wine vinaigrette added. It's better than any store bought product. I panicked because I didn't have a timer. We have cell phones with us. We are doing fruit now. I don't want to wait for it to be done. The smells fill the whole house. Don't look anywhere else. This is the best!
👤I like my dehydrator. It was one of the best purchases I've ever made. The price is great for what you are getting and I have had a great result with mine. I make my own food for backpacking and camping trips and it has made the cost of food go down because I don't buy freeze dried food. I don't mind the extra crunch in my food because this is so much cheaper and it's not a freeze dry, but it's still a good option. I use it to dehydrate fruits and vegetables when they are about to go bad. The little thing has so much use. I searched for dehydrators on the market and found many, but I think this is the best for the price. It sounds like a fan when it's on. It's safe to leave running overnight, it doesn't use much electricity, and it has 5 trays to dehydrating at once. Don't put onions and pineapple in there, you will end up with pineapple that has an onion taste to it. It comes with a handy booklet and packets of seasoning for dehydrating meat, and it comes with different tray inserts so you can dehydrate different shaped things. I've gotten a lot of use out of this investment. It's good for people who are looking to save money when packing for trips and camping. It's good for people who want to have dehydrated food for themselves or their kids but don't want to spend a lot of money on dehydrated snacks. It does take a little more prep time than buying food in a store but it's worth it. You know what you're putting into your body.
There are 2 Fruit Roll Sheets, 2 Clean-A-Screens, 5 Jerky Seasoning & Cure samples, and a recipe and instruction book included. 400 watt of drying power gives even heat distribution for maximum speed and food quality. The temperature is fixed. The powerhead has a temperature control that makes dehydrating easier. Clear top allows you to see the drying process. You can buy additional trays if you want to dry more at once. The dishwasher is safe. Remove the powerhead to make the dehydrator dishwasher safe. There is a recipe instruction book and a sample to start. There is Certified Frustration-Free Packaging on the ship.
👤The machine does great despite not coming with all the bells and whistles of the expensive machines. I ordered two more trays to work with. A lot of food. It has some noise, like a hairdryer on low. It gets warm in the room it is in because it is set to 160. I use mine in the laundry room. I could use the porch as well. The fan works well and it has dehydrated my items evenly and quickly, all six trays without having to move them. The beef jerky flavor is great. Neither of us have teeth anymore so we used hamburger for a softer jerky. We thought our beef jerky eating days were over when we were married for 42 years. A good time table is to check on the progress every 2 hours, you can check for 4 hours. It would be convenient if this was a more expensive model with a timer. It's no problem to give it a peek at the price and performance. I thought it would be hard to clean. That was no problem at all, and only took a few steps with a wet rag. I tried oranges and blueberries. I didn't have any orange slices left when I got the beef jerky, because the orange slices didn't survive my checking on them. They said it was delicious and dehydrated. The gobstoppers were the blueberries that were in too long. They had a lot of taste but were too hard for people without teeth. This is a great machine for dehydrating. It is very quick. Don't taste oranges too much before the rest of the items are ready.
👤The product is amazing. I made dehydrated beef strips that looked a little too dry, but I don't think it was an era. I made beef jerky and it was wonderful. It does what it's supposed to do and the temperature is great.
👤I decided to get this one even though I'd read some bad reviews here. I've been waiting for almost three years to write this review because I wanted to make sure it was sturdy and reliable. After using it religiously for three years, it does the trick. My family and I have six dogs, and I make chicken jerky treats for them. They are easy to make and the dogs love them. I saved a lot of money making chicken jerky with this dehydrator. I could go on a cruise. Bon voyage!
👤Loud. It's great for the money and the size. My first batches of jerky turned out great in less time than I anticipated. It's so loud. A blow dryer is not as loud as a vacuum cleaner. Unless you have aventilated room to put it in, beware. It gets very hot to the touch. If you have a room to put it in or will be away while it's working, I would recommend buying it. I might not be comfortable leaving the house if I knew it was going to get very hot.
COMPATIBILITY: NESCO food dehydrators can be used. Even heat distribution is provided by 350 watt of drying power. The temperature control is fixed. The powerhead has a temperature control of 160F. The fixed temperature control makes it easier to find the optimal drying temperature. You can dry large quantities at once with no tray rotation needed, if you purchase additional trays. Made in the USA is made in global and domestic components. There is a Jerky Gun with three tip attachment, Jerky Seasoning and Cure samples, and a cookbook.
👤Since I got it, I've been making jerky. If you clean it when you finish, it will be easy to clean and you won't have to wait for the juices to dry and the cake to come off the grate. I use a lot of ingredients in my recipe and I could sell it if I let it ferment for 24 hours. I have yet to use the packets that came with it. Walmart is a good place to buy meat. The beef is already cut and packaged in perfect slices. You can cut them in any size you want. It works perfect! Thank you later! I don't have any pics of the meat I posted, it doesn't last in the house with family. If I remember correctly, I have some on the machine. After results! The Caribbean has a snack called Caribbean jerky.
👤This works well and is easy to clean. I use it to make chicken jerky for my dogs. I stopped buying the treats for my dogs after reading an article that said that most of the dog treats made in China may contain pesticides and other hazardous substances. I decided to make my dogs' treats myself because I didn't want them to be poisoned. The dehydrator will do 5 pounds of chicken breasts in about three hours.
👤My Jerky Xpress arrived very quickly. I wanted to try it. I give this dehydrator 5 stars. I read that the Jerky gun had a problem with the mixture oozing out while squeezing. I wrapped some thin white tape around the grooves of the gun before packing it. It worked out well. If the plumbing tape can stop a water leak at my garden hose bib, I thought it might work. And it did. Love, love, love this product. Light weight and quiet when running. It uses the same amount of energy as a light bulb.
👤I have made several batches of beef jerky. There were four batches of ground beef and two batches of sliced beef. One of those ground beef batches was made using the cure and seasoning that came with the dehydrator and it tasted exactly like Slim Jim. The other ground beef was made at home. I used a meat thermometer and found the bottom rack to be up to 145'F. The "jerky gun" is a great invention and it is easy to make jerky from ground beef. I bought two more trays and am happy with the results. This works just as well as a dehydrator where you can control the temperature. Five hours for ground beef is perfect.
👤I have been using the maker for a month and have been able to put almost 25 pounds of meat through it. The item you use every time you make the jerky is the only thing that works for me, I need to pump it 10 or so times to get it to move. I started pushing the plunger by hand after giving up on the 2 batches. There is a lot of meat behind the plunger. Half of what I put in is going to be removed. I don't have a new gun yet. I recommend getting a different gun to use with this one.

👤The FAN is located in the top position. When I bought my first food dehydrator, it was in the bottom position. It meant that whatever dripped or fell down impacted the piece with moving parts. You can't immerse the unit in hot water, so it was difficult to clean up grease drippings. I like the design. The time and temperature controls are easy to use. I don't have to remember because the guide to temp for different snacks is printed on the control unit. It makes it possible to get a batches going in the middle of the night and not have to wake up and turn it off. Quiet. I was having a meeting next to the room where I was running a batches, and it presented no problem at all. I didn't have to raise my voice when I had a conversation at the kitchen table. The tiny grid Clean-a-screens are a new development that I haven't tried yet. I'm going to try dehydrating them today. My son Kenneth is fascinated by the process of seasoning and making jerky.
👤If you are on the fence, jump over it.
👤One of the advantages is that you can choose the temperature in 5 increments. It's wonderful! It is not silent, but it is not loud. I had to figure out the drying time and temperatures that would work for me while I was learning about the unit. I would need more time to read the recipe book. The family polished the chips after I made them. I want to make meat jerky in the future, but first I want to eat fruits and vegetables. I love the look of this, but it's a little bigger than a standard cupboard depth, but it doesn't look bad on the counter.
👤I bought this unit because my old one died. The other one had a manual knob adjustment. The mold for the trays and shelves has changed because of the thinner model. The new shelves aren't the same as the old ones. I hope the fan/heating unit doesn't burn out like my old one did, because it seems like it's the same. We'll see. Out of the box, 5 stars.
👤I have only been using it for a week, but I love it. I've done a lot of vegetables. The machine is easy to use, but there are variables in the food, ambient temperature, and humidity that make it hard to learn. To see how things are going, you have to look now and then. It's easy to do, and the instructions suggest you use a journal to keep your notes. I found it very helpful. When I am taking a peek, I have only one complaint, how to position the top piece. It does not sit down. A better design would make it so you could place it aside and not have it roll on the pivot mechanism. I recommend this dehydrator as a good buy. I think dehydrating is a lot of fun.
It's dishwasher safe and can be washed with soap and water. The 8-tray food dehydrator has 400W of drying power, which makes it a powerful dehydrator, as well as being able to lock in the original flavors of your favorite foods, and help you preserve different types of food. The temperature setting from 95F-158F(35C-70C) allows you to set an accurate time and watch the process at any time when drying out different types of food to perfect. Banana chips, apple chips, jerky, dehydrated vegetable, and even your own homemade dried soup mixes. Crisp and dry anything. The fan and heating element in a hot air circulation system give a consistant air flow evenly for optimum drying so no need to rotation it on your own. It has two ways to place and different sizes of food trays. The dehydrator has an auto shut-off mechanism in case the machine gets overheated. It is also free of the harmful substance, so you can be sure that you are getting a safe and high-quality appliance and that you will enjoy the dried food with your pet. Buy with confidence, it's easy to use and clean, it's easy to make rollups, and it's flexible and large enough to make anything you want. If you have a question or problem, please feel free to contact them by Amazon message at any time.
👤I bought it for my parents as a new year gift because my mom always plants a lot of fruit and vegetables in the summer and we were forced to eat tomato due to excellent harvest. It doesn't mean we like to eat tomato every day, which can cause us to hate it. My dad wants to make sausage and meat in the winter. We have made the most delicious yogurt, dried sweet patatoes, and made jerky. We love this product. The product has exceeded my expectations. The drying rack gives more space to dehydrate meat or fruits. You just set the temperature and timer. I enjoy it in the morning and do it at night. It is my family's new favorite toy.
👤I used my dehydrator once a week to make my dog chicken jerky because the two trays that arrived were broken. It's very easy and takes 10 hours to make, but it's definitely a favorite snack machine in our house. I have used this machine 24 times and after 18 hours it is blowing cold air and the jerky may never be done. Attempted to contact this company via their website, but no response has been received. It's past 40 days and can't be returned via Amazon. If the issue is resolved at this point, it will be a waste of money.
👤The shelves are too small and it's hard to load them because they slide on top of each other. It was very frustrating after all that food prep.
👤I bought this product because it had a timer and temperature control. There is a push button for off/on. It has a good temperature control. I am trying out my recipe and hope I don't waste my money. There was no manual for this device.
👤I bought this for beef jerky and it has not disappointed. The jerky is easy to clean and amazing. Saving me cash as well, no more buying this guy a bunch of bags of jerky. Buy your own meat,Marinate it, and let the food dehydrator do the rest.
👤What a waste of money. I tried to dehydrate bananas. Follow the directions for using lemon juice. I only got brown bananas that were just as wet as when they left the machine. I got a full refund after sending it back.
👤This is a dehydrator that we love. It's easy to use, just convert F temps to C. We turn it to high and monitor while rotating the shelves. It's not a big deal to clean trays off.
👤I gave my husband the item for Father's Day, but he wanted to return it. I was told it had been past the returnable date. He didn't open it until Father's Day because of Covid-19 delivery delays, but I ordered it early. He can't use it for what he wanted.
A food dehydrator that dries in hours instead of days and has a vita-save exterior helps block harmful light which destroys the nutrition of food being dehydrated. The temperature can be adjusted. The thermostat can be adjusted from 95F to 160F. Converga-Flow drying system pushes heated air up and across each tray, without having to rotation them. You can dry large quantities at once with no tray rotation needed, if you buy additional trays. Made in the USA is made in global and domestic components. There are 2 Fruit Roll Sheets, 2 Clean-A-Screens, 5 Jerky Seasoning & Cure samples, and a recipe and instruction book included.
👤It's like making a slower, less exciting episode of "Will It Blend?" if you own this dehydrator. You will wonder if you can dehydrate this produce. The answer is yes. The answer is always yes. If you buy this because you want to decrease the amount of produce in your kitchen by dehydrating your garden harvest, you will soon find yourself at the store buying more things to dehydrate. I dehydrated from my garden, which included chili peppers, tomatoes, herbs, squash, and beans. I bought apples, sweet potatoes, and eggplant to slice and dehydrate. There are some tips. A slicer may be beneficial. Only a few pieces are needed to test your slicing thickness. The dehydrating process essentially destroyed the zucchini I sliced. I was rewarded with beautiful zucchini chips after trying a thicker slice. 2. It's recommended to dehydrate herbs and veggies on a lower temp. Lower temperatures mean brighter colors. A photo of chili pepper flakes was included. The brighter red ones on the left were dehydrated at 95 deg F, while the darker ones on the right were dehydrated at 135 deg F. It takes a long time to dry things at lower temperatures. One way to get around this is to lower the temp for a few hours. 3. Things should be kept out of the way. Airflow is important. The trays have a gap in the center that lines up with the fan, but leaving it does help speed up the drying process. 4. After they are dry, remove the leaves from the large stems of herbs. It is much easier to remove the leaves from the stem, put them on the trays, and move them to a container one by one, than it is to run your finger down the stem and push the leaves off.
👤Only had it for a day. It seems like a decent product. I agree with one reviewer who said it needs two things, both of which seem very basic. There is no way to turn it on or off. You have to pull the plug. I didn't think a product wouldn't have a switch. This one seems to me to be an oversight because every decent electrical product in my house has a switch. It's possible to turn off your hair dryer or blender. A timer would be helpful. If some people go to bed and then to work, then they will have to eat for a long time. Most users would be happy to pay $2 for both of these drawbacks.
👤This is a great way to have healthy snacks on our outdoor adventures because we eat the Paleo diet and are big outdoors enthusiasts. We have used it a lot since we bought it. We have dehydrated a lot of food since buying it. We loved it! Every time we go on a hike, camping, or backpacking trip, we bring dried apples, bananas, peaches, and beef jerky. We are going to buy more trays in order to dry more at a time since it comes with five trays. The top tray dries a little quicker than expected so sometimes we have to change the trays. The jerky we made with it was a hit. The packets that come with it are really good and we've shared them with friends and family who always ask for more. The buy was definitely worth it.
Even heat distribution is provided by 1000 Watts of drying power. The temperature can be adjusted to dry different foods at proper temperatures. You can dry large quantities at once with no tray rotation needed, if you purchase additional trays. Converga-Flow drying system pushes heated air up and across each tray, without having to rotation them. There are 8 Fruit Roll-up Sheets, 8 Clean-a-Screens, 1 recipe instruction book, and an original Jerky Spice Pack with Cure included.
👤This is new to dehydrating. Reading reviews and trying to get into this, but not knowing if the kids would even eat it. The Snackmaster seemed to be the best choice. I bought 6 more trays and mesh liners. After doing several batches testing how long it took, how much yield, how many minutes it took the kids to devour the 11 trays of banana chips, one dehydrator was not going to cut it. Within a week, I ordered the Gardenmaster along with 6 more trays and screens. The larger trays make a difference, along with being able to stack 30 trays. Has anyone done that? I use both now. The Gardenmaster is a lot more noisier than the other ones, but with 8 trays it is a lot less drying time. It's loud so you don't want to be on the phone. It's more convenient to load it with no motor to pick it up. Counter space is a little more. The snackmaster is very quiet and takes longer. 600w vs 1000w. The Gardenmaster has just 7 of the trays on it, while the Snackmaster has 11. There is a I wish I'd started with the gardenmaster, I haven't gotten any fruit or jerky yet. I have been using 20 trays for fruits and jerky the past year. No problems, still going strong. There is still no progress on the stockpile. I will order another ten trays for fruits because I don't find the noise an issue. I don't think I'd like jerky with 30 trays. I love the unit. After 3 years, still using. One thing I do with my jerky is that it takes 30 minutes or so for each tray to reach the highest heat at the bottom, so I take the temperature at the top of 10 trays and it was only 140*. The new trays are a bit more concave than the originals, apparently they changed them. The new ones have a ring. The gardenmaster does not fit these trays. New trays need to be heated so that the plastic relaxes and the crowns point up, just like when you open a new dehydrator, we recommend heating the unit for an hour to relax the plastic. The new trays should heat up when Stack 4 is used. This usually fixes the problem. It must not be usual. Nesco lost a customer and I just wanted more useable trays.
👤I was expecting to use it in my kitchen, like I did my old dehydrator. I knew that would never be an option after a second of turning it on. It is so loud! I moved it into my laundry room in the basement, but it still makes noise upstairs. I used the Nesco website to contact their customer service, to find out if the noise is normal. They didn't reply. The noise was 2 stars. The customer service received 2 stars. It gets 1 star for drying well, but it sounds like it's on its last legs. When it dies, I'll update my review.

👤For the last 4 years, I have beenhydrating a lot of fruit. I keep detailed notes about each of the dehydrators. When I bought the dehydrators on Amazon, I thought I might help someone out, because I got so much good information. I remember buying one of the dehydrators since I needed two more. I've learned a lot through experience. The best dehydrator of the 4 is the Nsco FD-60. It dries quicker than my second best, the Nesco FD-75PR. One of the most confusing things when trying to decide which to buy is the name of each. They overlap from one model to another, so my advice is to go by model numbers. The handle on the top lid doesn't flip out like it does on the FD-75PR, which makes picking up the lid a bit difficult. The FD-60 has a well designed inverted handle that makes it easy to lift the lid, whereas you have to balance the lid a bit. I do a lot of lifting, putting the lid down on the counter, and checking, so this is an important feature. The lid is easier to handle than the FD-60, and I like them both very much. The fruit doesn't dry out any more than the other one even though one dries faster. If the temp is set right, both work well drying out fruit. They suggest 135 degrees for fruit, but I go a tad hotter. I watch the fruit at 140 degrees to make sure it doesn't dry out. One thing to add is the slower FD-75PR. When I needed to arrange the drying time, I chose this one over the FD-60, so I wouldn't have to go to sleep when the fruit needed tending to. It takes at least 8 hours to dry fruit, so timing is important, so this slower one is actually better, so I don't have to get up at 5 am or midnight. It usually takes me between 8 and 11 hours to complete all the fruit on my faster dehydrator. I use up to 8 trays, but I don't like to go over 7. I've dried as many as 9 in one dehydrator, but it wasn't optimal. Too much checking and rechecking was required. The dehydrators' sweet spots are found in 7 trays total. I only dry fruit and have never gone over 140 degrees. They don't have to use dried-on sticky fruit juice and goo to clean up. I only use my dehydrators about a month a year, but they get use in that month, which is about 4 weeks, and I only get a break when I'm washing and reloading the trays. I have four dehydrators that all make the same amount of noise, so noise level wouldn't be a factor if I chose between them. I don't recommend heat-from-the- bottom types of dehydrators. I use an empty tray on the bottom because the tray has warped when too close to the heat source. The edges of the fruit can fry if they're not dry, so they leave the inner part of the fruit wet. A lot of high-maintenance work is needed to have the fruit done properly. The heat source on the bottom of the dehydrator might be better. The ones I have are older and not as high end, so that could be a problem. It makes sense that the heat source from the bottom may make things too hot on the bottom and not hot enough on top. I know that heat rises, but for some reason, it's too hot on the bottom and not hot enough on top, so I'm constantly shifting trays from one level to another to accommodate these heat-from-the- bottom dehydrators. If I could only buy one, I would buy the FD-60 because it's faster and the handle is better for how I use it.
