The pack of food seal bags has different sizes and is 10 feet long. The food storage bag is 60 feet long. Food can be kept fresh in the freezer up to 5x longer and in the fridge or pantry up to 2x longer. Automatic bag detection and vacuum seal can be done in two easy steps. Food can be sealed andMarinated in minutes with a handheld sealer. The patented dishwasher-safe drip tray helps keep your counter clean. 5 year limited warranty.
👤I used to use the old Food Saver unit for almost 7 years before it gave up the ghost. I don't like the system at all. The unit fails to remove the air from the first bag on subsequent attempts. The vacuum pump stops and the air is drawn out. I have to press the "Cancel" button before it can seal the bag and restart the vacuum process. Total failure. I am past the return period. I'll try again, this unit is going in the trash.
👤The 4840 only lasted 4 months after minimal usage. I bought the extended warranty after ordering another. Suggest the same thing to anyone who reads it. The new 4840 won't vacuum seal. The first lose of meat was sent back to the factory. It cost less than the meat I lost.
👤The handle won't go back in after being pulled out.
👤I vacuum sealed the meat. I had to clean the tray. I was told to use a butter knife. Didn't work. I prefer the older type without all of the bells and whistles. Lift the lid, place the bag over the seal, and seal it. There are too many things to go wrong when they add all of the extras. The foodsaver vacuum was in use for 8 years and never had a problem.
👤I debated for a long time if a single person who does limited cooking could justify a vacuum sealer. It makes sense for a single person to buy a larger quantity of meat or produce than they need, but it also makes sense for a large family to buy a larger quantity. I can buy a pound of beef, chicken or vegetables, portion it into a single serving, and use it for a long time. I haven't tried "sous vide" style cooking yet, but I believe this machine with FoodSaver bags will work. The model that FoodSaver offers is not the highest-end model, but it has good reviews on independent rating sites. I am satisfied with the ease of use and performance, and it may help me to resist the temptation to grab a frozen pizza at the grocery store if I have easy-to-prepare single portions of more nutrition-rich food at home. Carefully read the directions.
👤The extra money should be used to get this unit. I got a unit for half the price and most of the vacuumed sealed packages leaked after 24 hours. I got the unit after returning it. There have been about 20 sealed packages. The unit is easy to seal and vacuum and so far it has been great. The roll holder and sliding cutter make it very easy to use. The unit is bulky for permanent counter storage.
👤I don't have to keep a chest freezer or two. I need to store things for later use, even if it's fresh meat, produce, or the heroic batches of stew or chili that just came off the stove. Along with Food Saver products, the years have taught me a lot. I got onboard with this system when it was on the market. We've gone through some changes. I like some of the older systems. An old guy hates change. I'm on board with this newest one, and it's serving me well... It uses more bags than the old ones, but it's still impressive. I can't imagine being without the ability to vacuum seal. This one is so easy to do.
Product 2. It's dishwasher safe. Meat preserved with the Foodsaver system in the freezer can last up to 3 years and still taste fresh, and freezer burn free. Automatic bag detection makes vacuum seal easier than ever because you just put the bag in the vacuum chamber and the machine does the rest. The product is simple to use, it has built in roll storage and cutter that makes it easy to make custom sized bags to fit whatever you seal. The v4840 is durable, high quality, and backed by a 5 year limited warranty. Product 2. For use with jars. Product 2 is great for sauces, mustards, and jams. Product 2 is stain resistant and odor proof. Product 2. It's dishwasher safe.
👤I have used a variety of bags. I have sealed our bags and everything else.
The multi-ply material prevents freezer burn. It helps prevent freezer burn and keeps food fresh for up to 5X longer. 24 inches is the length of the cord. Save up to $2700 yearly by buying in bulk, buying on sale, and preventing waste. FoodSaver bags are made of multi-layer material and are designed to resist boiling temperatures. packets stay submerged during the sous-vide water bath and can be vacuum sealed to better transmit heat to your food.
👤I have tried other brands and they have a worse seal.
VACUUM INDICATOR: A convenient vacuum indicator shows when air is removed from the container, it has a powerful vacuum seal, and it's easy to clean. Food should be kept fresh longer. The FoodSaver Multi-Use Preservation System keeps food fresh in the freezer up to 5x longer, and fresher in the fridge and pantry, compared to ordinary storage methods. It'sTILE: The heat seal strip can be used for freezer storage, and the handheld seal can be used for fridge and pantry storage. There are custom setTINGS for PULSE/MARINATE/MOIST/DRY. The unit has 4 different settings: dry, moist, andMarinate in minutes, which ensure an airtight seal is achieved regardless of the type of food you are sealing. There are more features. Roll storage with built-in cutter bar so you can create custom-sized vacuum seal bags; time-saving features makes bags from rolls faster, by cutting your bag as you seal your next bag; alignment tool and slanted opening ensure ideal bag placement; and aremovable tray. Simply press the vacuum button to remove air and seal, and the light will show that the seal is complete.
👤We love to be outdoors with our family. Hunt and fish year round. We grocery shop as well. Load camp and home freezers. Very experienced vacuum Sealers. Decided to try a counter top version. If needed, fully prepared to return to Amazon Prime. This unit pulls 11” of vacuum and I rounded it up. Other units can pull up to 30” Hg. This is a big difference. Not necessarily a show stopping thing. I measured it with two different vacuum gauges. I am an engineer and know how to measure. A career was made out of measuring. I wanted this unit to do well. I did. 11” Hg verified. Foodsaver doesn't reveal how much vacuum their units pull. They say it is proprietary? I measured. We will keep the unit. The set of features allow both auto and manual operation, so you want that. You can control the amount of vacuum with a manualpulse. A unit with internal bag roll storage is very efficient. The accessory is held in one hand. Zip type vac seal bags can be used. The accessory has a special place for collecting liquids when used for a zip bag. Nice. The main unit has a liquid catch tray. It's essential. Must have. Why? Liquids should not be sucked into the vacuum pump. It can happen. Cleaning is a nightmare. Liquids can get into the pump circuit. I think we can live with less vacuum power. It is adequate but barely. Our sealed bags tend to hold up during the time we normally use our vac'ed foods. We have had precious wild game buried in the freezer for over two years. All the seals were intact. A durable seal is important. The balance of power is more on this later part. The air in your storage container needs to be kept out with the help of a vac sealer. You want enough vac power and sealing ability to do that. Over a long period of time. There is a balance between too much and not enough. Bag leaks over time is a common complaint about seals. That is a failure. There are many reasons for this. The vacuum can work against itself. How? Ambient air pressure is always trying to get in. There is a hostile environment inside your freezer. There are competing forces. Too much vacuum can cause a problem. The balance of power is not good. The variables are vacuum amount, bag quality, and the user. A chinchy bag or a mediocre seal can be created by too much vacuum. It is a matter of physics. The better manufactures understand the balance between amount of vacuum, bag design/material, and seal. They want to find a balance. The better manufactures match the variables for optimal cost effective performance. I think it is wise to stick with quality components that work together. Until you verify other bags will work as well. That balance should be respected. This unit was put to work. 30 lbs of large, whole shrimp were processed. The unit vac'd and sealed dozens of bags from Foodsaver rolls. We cut the quart and gallon sizes. Some are larger than the gallon. Also, note: We used several bags from Foodsaver. The demo bags that come with this unit were about an inch shorter. It makes a difference. Shame on Foodsaver! I would like to have more than 11” of vacuum. We tinkered with the settings to make sure we got the max vacuum we needed. We didn't get a shrink wrap result for 3-4lb roasts, but we could still see a bit of air space left in. The shrimp were sealed well and lay nicely in the bags. Happy. We think it will do. The 5 year warranty helps with peace of mind. The bags are well made, no reason for concern, but I can't speak to the longevity of the seals and bags. We sealed like pros. Time will tell how much air matters and how well the seals hold. This was a lengthy review. Hopefully not too technical. Hope it helps you. Inquiring minds want to know.
A built-in bag alignment tray ensures correct bag placement every time and is easy to clean. It's easier to plan a meal when food is protected from air and freezer burn, and you can save time shopping for groceries on busy nights. Simply add food to the bag, insert the open end into the machine, and it will take care of the rest. You can stretch your dollar. Food can be kept in the freezer for up to 3 years, and it will still taste fresh the day you seal it. It's possible to enjoy leftovers in the fridge weeks later. Not just for food theft. You can use your vacuum Sealer to store liquids and creams when you travel, protect important papers or photographs from water damage, create your own refreezable ice packs, and much more. It is simple to clean, thanks to the patented, patented, removable drip tray, which collects any excess liquid and debris that may result from vacuum seal, helps keep countertops clean and is dishwasher safe.
👤Don't buy it. After a few uses, it stopped pulling the vacuum. The return date expired because we did not use it often. We called the manufacturer and they said they would send a new one if we sent it back. The cost to send it back was $30.00. Really? Food Saver should pay for the shipping with a 5 year guarantee. We owned a Food Saver vacuum Sealer for over 20 years. I thought this one would be up to the same standard. I was wrong and disappointed. Don't waste your money. Better products are available. Don't make the same mistake as we did.
👤Couldn't turn on, got one. Returned and got a new one. The one blinks as if it is overheating, but has never been run. I'm done. Normally, this brand was great.
👤This is my first vacuum cleaner and probably my last Foodsaver brand. The one touch vacuum and seal button does not work. I have to manually stop the vacuum and press the seal button if I want the bag to stay open. I have to wait a few minutes and try again when the vacuum stops before it's finished. Buying products in bulk is not possible with this method. I can only seal one or two bags in 30 minutes. So not nice.
👤I work stupid hours and am a single 30 year old female. This food saver has changed my life. I had to go through the drive-through at 8pm to eat my french fries and chicken, but I was too lazy to do it. I bought a food saver. I wanted the manual style to be in control. I vacuum sealed my pantry, fridge, and freezer after I got it. I used to store chicken breast in single freezer bags and pull them out after a week to see ice crystals. I don't have ice crystals anymore, and nothing tastes like I took it out of the freezer. I vacuum pack deli meats so they last long enough for me to get through all of it, vacuum pack for salads, reseal my bags of chips, and vacuum seal my leftovers into single portions so that on busy days, I can pull them out of the freezer or fridge. This has saved me a lot of money, and has made me less likely to go to the grocery store.
👤I didn't get a vacuum Sealer for 15 years because I always got discouraged by reviews that said they didn't work or were difficult to use. If you want the air to get sucked out of the bag, you have to position the edge of the bag in the middle of the little channel. I tried to lay it across the channel so that the air could not be drawn out through the channel. If you overfill a bag, it will work perfectly. The stuff in the bag will sometimes compress so that it doesn't think it's getting all the air out, but you can manually press the seal button to interrupt its struggles. Resealing things like bags of chips was one thing I only remembered to do a few times. It works on some materials. I used this to store dry-aged meat in the freezer. I did the same with it. I didn't think I'd use it much, but I end up using it a lot.
Smart technology automatically detect and switch to the correct mode to make sure an airtight seal is achieved. The heat seal rolls are easy to clean and maintain, and the patentedremovable drip tray will catch any overflow liquid, making this kitchen appliance dishwasher safe. The FoodSaver System can keep food in the freezer for up to 3 years and still taste great. The produce in the fridge will stay fresh up to weeks later than in days. The easy-to-use control panel makes it easy to use, as well as displaying vacuum seal progress, and having indicator lights for a quick look at what's going on. If you want to make a bag from your favorite FoodSaver roll, you need to give it enough material to fit your item, then press the 'Seal & Cut' button. Extra-WIDE Seal with Non-STICK COATING is guaranteed to reach an optimal vacuum level and airtight seal. The FM5860 is backed by a 5-year limited warranty. In the least amount of time, get optimum flavor infused. Press theMarinate button to connect the handheld accessory to the Quick Marinator. The handheld sealer can be used to start preserving food in the refrigerator and pantry. FoodSaver appliances are certified by nationally recognized test laboratories for compliance with applicable product safety test standards. Their priority is safety. The rapid Marinate mode can be used in minutes.
👤They confirmed receipt when we returned our faulty seal in June. They said there were no units in stock. We paid almost $400 for the sealer and they offered us a discount. They offered a unit that retailed for under $200 when we declined. The only thing we wanted was the same unit repaired or replaced. We have been waiting for a new unit or money back. For the past three weeks Food Saver has ignored our emails and now we have to file a complaint with the Attorney General. It won't go away if they expect it to. We will take this claim to a small claims court if Amazon doesn't help us leverage support. We plan to file a lawsuit against Food Saver. We will try to cover the cost and time it takes to resolve the issue. Food Saver makes a decent unit, but if it doesn't work out be prepared to get the run around. We are seniors on a fixed income and this is more important to us than just giving up. Food Saver hopes that most people will give up. This is not the kind of company you will want to buy from. Before you buy, make sure you check the Better Business Bureau. We would have liked it if we had.
👤Less than 6 months after I bought it, my Foodsaver is not working. The return window is closed. I waited 1 1/2 years for the price to go down and now I have a broken appliance. I am not sure if I am supposed to do it now.
👤I bought this because I wanted to freeze my purchases. It only could seal three or four bags before going into cool-down. I continued to use the unit after putting up with that. It became useless after just over a year of use. There would be a little noise when it was going to start the vacuum or seal a bag. I gave it a try and it worked. You have to thump it at the right time, press the button and give it a whack. You can see how this works from the video. I've tried Customer Service many times but have not been able to get through. This is a lemon, at least you are good in a beer, so look for another brand.
👤After about 2 months of light use, the seal was stopped. My first Foodsaver unit was this one. The previous one died after a year of use. I need a vacuum cleaner. I haven't found a reliable solution. This isn't it.
👤I was a little skeptical about how much "savings" this kitchen appliance could give, but with a little experimentation I have grown to love this vacuum sealer. It is essential to my meal prep routine. I learned a few things through trial and error. If you make a big juicy chicken breast, the juice can interfere with the seal. Liquid goes up the machine when the air is pulled out. The machine works by heating the bag to seal it, but there is a catch for juice overflow. Too much juice can cause the heat to seal. The solution is to freeze the food. I use a chip clip to hold my soups in the bag. I put the bags in the freezer to keep them upright. Before vacuum sealing, soups and stew need to be frozen. Chicken breasts can be eaten in 15-20 minutes. There are bags. The FoodSaver bags are not very expensive. I use other bags that I have found on Amazon. The "subscribe and save" program on Amazon saves money, as well as certain FoodSaver brand bags. See:
The starter kits include a vacuum machine, 12 pre-cut seal bags, a power cable, a vacuum tube, and a user manual. You can stretch your dollar. Food can be preserved in the freezer for up to 3 years and still taste great. The produce in the fridge will stay fresh up to weeks later than in days. There is more slippages. The built-in roll cutter makes it easy to create custom-sized bags without using scissors. It has dual heat seal strips. It's guaranteed to reach an optimal vacuum level. The 5-year limited warranty is on top of the high quality of the FM2100. Attach the handheld sealer with the accessory hose included with your machine to start preserving food in the refrigerator and pantry. There is a vacuum seal roll, pre-cut vacuum seal bags, and accessory hose.
👤After owning the original Tilia Foodsaver for nearly 20 years, I broke down and purchased another Foodsaver. I decided on the FoodSaver after looking through hundreds of reviews and other research. I'm not disappointed either. I was looking for a machine that was light and portable, but one that had a powerful motor that could pull the bags out. You can place a roll of bags inside the machine and cut them to the length you want in a record time. I'm an avid hunter and fisherman and I intend to get every penny out of this machine, just like the last one. I've only used this machine a few times, but it has worked well. The company doesn't make a lot of money on the machine itself, but they rely on expensive bags to make money, so a tip for the one reading through the review. Make sure that the bags you find are compatible with the Foodsaver machine. Make sure that you cut your bags long enough so that you can use them multiple times. If you cut your bag too small, you will find that it will be too small to reuse again. Please like my review if it helped. Thank you.
👤It no longer vacs after 10 months of occasional use. The air will be vacuumed out. I have to manually hot the seal button. Spending more would assure a reliable product. I didn't know this particular seal came with a 5 year warranty. I explained the problem to the company. They asked for information on the place of purchase. They are sending me a new one.
👤I gave this product one star because it malfunctioned after I bought it. I was unable to return it because I missed the return time. I contacted Food Saver and they tried to help me fix the issue over the phone. They replaced the malfunctioning machine. The new one works well. I call it standing behind your product.
👤The seal component stopped working after only 2 months of occasional use, after we purchased this product in November 2016 We contacted Foodsaver and are still trying to get the problem solved. It takes days to get a response from them. If you count on customer service to resolve a problem, you'll likely be disappointed.
👤Easy to use and 5 year warranty are the best features. "Moist" will not always seal. "Dry" works well if you freeze meats first. We found that using kitchen scissors works but cutting "square" is harder than we thought. Our old Foodsaver did not consistently seal, so Foodsaver 2100 is worth the money so far. The Assurance 4 year warranty says they only pay after the manufacturers warranty ends. Foodsaver has a warranty of 5 years. There is a waste of $29.99.
👤The heating element stopped working after I used it 6 times. I expected this product to work for a few years after I paid for it. My old one lasted 13 years.
👤I was excited to start using it after reading all the reviews. The vacuum became less effective after about 10 uses. Either it vacuums forever and then stops, or it stops and never seals the bag. I can press "seal" and there's still air in the bag. I wish I had not spent so much money on it. There is a I had ordered the food saver brand specific bags as back up and was expecting to love them.
The starter kit includes: a 11"x10' roll, three heat- seal bags, and two zip up bags. The retractable handheld sealer seals food in minutes. The multi-ply material prevents freezer burn.
👤I have had a FoodSaver vacuum for 20 years and love it. My mother's freezer broke down while she was out of town and she had to store fish in zip lock bags. The smell was unbearable and the clean up was even worse because the zip lock bags didn't protect against that. The house and garage stink of rotten fish. I bought her model because it is a newer model than mine. She loves vacuuming and finding things to fit into the bags. This item is easy to use.
👤The unit is bulkier and uses more "bag" material, but it is still an improvement over my earlier unit. I didn't realize how much I had to touch the old one with contaminated hands until I started using the new one. The limited touch needed to operate most functions makes it easier to clean and use. I can use my old containers with this unit. It will be a while before I can compare longevity, since I got over 9 years out of my last one. I would recommend this to anyone.
👤I have never owned a Sealer before. This one was the one I chose after a lot of research. So far, so good. It seems to pull a really good vacuum, it's very easy to use.
👤Works great. I was looking for a replacement for my 12 year old food saver. Really like the attachment.
👤The best food saver I have ever owned. Great product. You store the bag unit on top, you cut it by the slicer, and it has a vacuum attachment if you have the cannisters. The best.
👤It works great and is inexpensive. We spent a lot in the first couple of uses. It's easy to use and fast. Would definitely recommend.
👤We have cooked and eaten more at home during the current crises. I was not fond of eating left-overs because they tasted like left-overs. This product changed everything. Our dinners are much more enjoyable and less waste than before.
👤How did I survive without this? Excellent in every way, with a full range of useful features. If you want toMarinate in the bag, you must choose the cycle which allows me to do so. One of my best purchases so far this year!
A built-in bag alignment tray ensures correct bag placement every time and is easy to clean. The food saver system in the freezer can last up to 3 years and still taste great. The produce in the fridge will stay fresh up to weeks later than in days. The bag maker is an express bag. The express bag maker reduces bag making steps by 50% compared to the foodsaver V4000 models, thanks to a second heat-sealing bar. The easy view vacuum window and open roll storage design make it more convenient to use. Led light indicators can be used to guide you through the vacuum seal process. Press the vacuum and seal bar to remove the air that causes freezer burn. It's to reach an optimal vacuum level and airtight seal with it's very consistent seal. The fm5200 is backed by a 5-year limited warranty. Smart technology automatically detect and switch to the correct mode to make sure an airtight seal is achieved. The heat seal rolls are easy to clean and maintain, and the patentedremovable drip tray will catch any overflow liquid, making this kitchen appliance dishwasher safe.
👤The new 5000 series was re-engineering by Food Saver. People who have been using Food Saver machines can get confused quickly. Let's talk about the changes, what's good about it, and one thing that is a little quirky. We are all curious about the quirky so let's get to it. It's very easy to install a new bag when the machine is open on both sides, you just slide a new roll in from the left or right and feed it through the front. You only have to do this when installing a new bag. You feed it through the front to the white line. It takes a little work. It's hard to stay on the white line when you close the cut off bar. So what it takes is to overextend it a little so it protrudes out the front a little, and then when you close the bar on it, it is exactly on the white line. It doesn't matter if it's on the white line or not, you want to pull it out from the front of the machine so you have the center lip to pull on. Don't worry about it being perfect. You will be fine once you realize that with a fresh roll you only have to overextend it the first time. That is quirky. The machine is great. 1) You are taking up less counter space with the upright vertical design. There are two more The bag roll exiting area on the bottom is where you don't do double duty like on the single cutter and seal machines. There are 3 more Lifting the bag that already has the seal on one end up to the vacuum and upper seal area will allow you to see the leading edge of the tray and know you have inserted it properly. There are four The advantage is that you are lifting the bag up with both hands, one on each side, and the juices will settle to the bottom and the air will move towards the top. The ones that are already resting on the bar are the ones that are being held up to it. The bag is instantly grasped, vacuumed, and sealed. It is very easy to use. There are five You get less juice in the juice tray, which means less emptying out juices. 6) Since there is no drop down door to deal with, you use less bag material since you can more easily see how much bag is spread out when you pull it out. It's clear so you can see it. There is a second setting that can be used if you want to seal a bag with dry or liquid contents. I bought it.
👤It worked well for about 2 months of intermittent use. I have had about 6 of these over the years and know what kind of use they can tolerate. The attachment hose sealer was my favorite part. It's perfect for cheese and leftovers. I didn't like the fact that the pump started to malfunction after 2 months. The vacuum pump was twice as loud and barely removed air. The work stopped. I bought the extended warranty through Asurion but am having difficulty getting it fixed. If it's within the manufacturers warranty, you're supposed to go through Foodsaver. I'm trying to get that resolved.
PreSERVES TASTE & NUTRIENTS. Store fresh fruits, vegetables, cuts of meat, and fish. When air is removed from the bag and sealed with a vacuum seal, food is protected from the effects of air, which can cause freezer burn and spoilage. For use with jars. It's great for sauces, mustards, and jams. It is stain resistant and odor proof. Environmentally safe.
👤If your food saver comes with a hose, skip this kit and just buy a wide mouth piece. The regular mouth is nothing but trouble, and you won't need the accessory hose. I'm using a food saver. The 4000 series is not as large. The jars I bought were perfect for the kit: Ball Half-Gallon Jars, Wide Mouth, Set of 2. I thought that the Food saver wouldn't work since I couldn't figure out how to attach the accessory hose to the unit. I didn't realize that I had to remove the clear plastic part from my stock hose to expose the gray nub that was in the mason jar seal. I only have wide mouth jars and the wide mouth adapter works perfectly. My lettuce is just as fresh as it was the day before.
👤I use a break bleeder. I vacuum seal at 20 pounds. This contraption helps vacuum seal my jars by keeping them closed and keeping the air out. This is useful when I want to reseal one of my jars. This is a great way to keep my food fresh.
👤I bought a food saver to extend the shelf life of dried goods in the pantry. The hose had the same grey ends, but not the food saver machine. The hose is useless. Thankfully, the food saver came with a hose with two different ends. The wide mouth is easier to use. There are less lid failures with the wide mouth. The regular mouth cannot be used. The first jar popped open as I was trying to seal the others. I went to the foodsaver website and found nothing. There were suggestions on how to make it work. The regular mouth worked after I started doing these steps. 1. Don't overfill jars. If there's room in the jar, don't press down or shake together powders like flour or rice, the air flows better if there's a bit of room in the head. 2. The rim of the jar should be wiped with a towel. 3. One lid is better than two. 4. Put the seal on by putting it down from the top onto the jar. 5. Attach the hose and hold the food saver in your hand. It won't take a lot of pressure, but you will have to manually hold it. 6. When the foodsaver stops, pull the hose from the sealer first. 7. Remove the seal. Sometimes the gasket stays on the jar. The second lid should be removed. It's just there to help with pressure. The regular mouth worked better after that. I have all the jars on the counter. I'm going to put the seals in the pantry after I double check them. I have jars that have a larger beaded neck. The regular mouthed jars with a large neck could not be used, but the newer ones with a smaller neck could. See the blurry pic. This would be the time when you would want to store jars with the ring tightly on them. The food can be unsafe to eat if the lids cause a false seal. There is no danger of botulism with dry goods. It's easier to stack if need be. One suggestion was that I didn't have to try yet. The red seal was to be activated by placing the lids into an over set at 200 degrees for a minute or two. I don't know if I will have to do that to the lids in the future. The purchase should be okay if the seals remain. I'm not enamored by the end of my first jar. If there is any new information, I will update.
Air enters the bag again? If the bag is wrinkled or damaged, there is a foreign matter in the bag opening that could cause the bag to leak. 2. If the bag is damaged for packaging sharp items, you should check it. This is a problem with the food. Meat can be preserved in the freezer for 3 years and still taste great, and you can keep produce in the fridge for weeks instead of days. Foodsaver is the number one vacuum seal system, it keeps food fresh for up to 5x longer than ordinary storage methods, it has led light indicators that can guide you through the process, and you can press the vacuum and seal button to remove the air that causes freezer burn and spoilage. It is easy to lock the lid with a simple turn compared to other competitive units that require 2 hands to close and lock the lid. No need for multiple modes, and the patented tray will catch any overflow liquid, making this kitchen appliance easy to clean and maintain. All Foodsaver appliances are certified by the nationally recognized test laboratories for compliance with applicable product safety test standards. Attach the handheld sealer with the accessory hose included with your machine to start preserving food in the refrigerator and pantry with FoodSaver zip up bags and fresh containers.
👤I decided to get the inexpensive V2244 with the basic vac and seal after reading the reviews. Read the instructions first. They are not as detailed as they should be, but they point out some important things. Don't. Make the bag too small or over fill it. Stuffing the bags will not save money. The bags need to be placed in the vacuum and heat seal strip. No puckers or folds! The area of the bag that will heat seal should be clean and dry. The seal will be compromised if there is water in this area. This is also true with grease. Don't try to seal the oil on the seal area. You can't clean the oil from the plastic well without some kind of soap, so just use another bag and keep it clean. It's a good idea to put the bag on a cutting board or book to keep the bag and seal on the same plane. This sealer works well with some common sense.
👤I bought one for my girlfriend's birthday, which sounds terrible but I promise she wanted one. A few months ago. We had it in the kitchen for three months and didn't use it. We tried it for the first time and it was not good. I've used vacuum sealers before and am comfortable with them. This one is the same as others I've used, but it simply doesn't work. The unit isn't complete and isn't junk. The price has been cut in half since I purchased the original unit three months ago, so I think it's a defect. They know this unit is not good. Their customer support is not helpful, and to be honest I felt like they were rude in their responses. They won't offer anything except that the unit shouldn't sit as the gasket will dry out. That's fine, but anything that can't sit for three months without drying out is not a product worth putting money into. You will never get help from this product and the entire company.
👤I bought this unit because of the reviews and previous unit I owned. The first couple of times I used it, it worked great. It would not seal unless I pushed down on the lid. I tried to wet the seal. No matter what, it won't seal. The return window was closed a month ago. Hopefully it will work better.
👤The basic unit was all I needed in a vacuum machine. I thought FoodSaver was the best brand. It has a small footprint so that it can sit out on my kitchen counter all the time. It has a tray that can be easily cleaned. It has an accessory port that can be used to seal vacuum bags and jars. It vacuums and seals automatically, which is great for re-sealing items that are in their original bags, such as frozen veggies and cereals. The machine is meant for light home kitchen use. You have to allow it to cool down for 20 seconds between uses. The FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer machine is poorly designed and failed after only a few uses. The gray plastic ring in the accessory port developed a crack and the unit wouldn't pull a vacuum. When the first one broke, I contacted FoodSaver and was told that it was not a user replaceable item and that I should return the unit to Amazon. I tried 3 of these units in a row. My only conclusion is that either the design is bad or the part is bad. I don't know if it was the use of bags sealed by the unit or the accessory port that caused this part to fail, I used both. I don't know why there are so many good reviews of these units, but they are not worth the price. This machine failed and I am very disappointed. I need to buy a different unit for my FoodSaver bags because I have a lot of them.
